Embracing the Teaching Role: Taking Charge One Step at a Time

Greetings, everyone! It's amazing how quickly time is passing as I continue my journey into the world of teaching. Each day brings new opportunities and responsibilities, and today was no exception. I had the privilege of taking on a more significant role in the classroom, and I can't wait to share my experiences with you. All in a Day's Work: Bell Ringers, Read Alouds, and Library Trips Today, I took on an even more substantial part of the class schedule. I handled the first half of each class, which meant I was responsible for leading the bell ringer activity, reading aloud to the students, and even managing a trip to the library and back before their regular teacher resumed her duties. It was a thrilling experience to guide the students through the day's activities, from the very start to the middle of the class period. The bell ringers, designed to engage and stimulate the students' minds, allowed me to set the tone for the lessons and encourage their active participation. Reading aloud from "I, Cosmo" continued to captivate the students, as they eagerly followed the heartwarming story from the perspective of a loyal golden retriever. The library visit was an educational adventure in itself, and I was delighted to be a part of the experience, guiding the students and helping them select books that would inspire their imaginations. Running the Skills Class: Navigating Homeroom and Study Hall As the day progressed, I had the opportunity to run the skills class at the end of the day. This period is somewhat akin to a homeroom or study hall, but with a twist. During these 45 minutes, the students have specific tasks and activities to complete. It's a time for them to focus on personal growth, homework, and skill development, and it was my responsibility to guide them through this period. It was a unique experience that allowed me to interact with the students in a different context, helping them make the most of this crucial time. Facilitating their learning journey in this setting was both a rewarding and educational experience for me. Taking Charge Tomorrow: A Noteworthy Observation on the Horizon Tomorrow promises to be an exciting day as I take over the entire class period for the 4/5 classes. It's a significant step for me as a student teacher, as my university professor will be coming for my first observation. This observation is a vital milestone in my journey, and I'm both nervous and eager to show what I've learned and how I can contribute to the students' learning experience. As I prepare for this big moment, I'm reminded of the progress I've made and the support I've received from both the students and the teaching team. The journey continues, and I'm grateful for every step of the way. Stay tuned for more updates as my student teaching adventure unfolds, one lesson at a time.
